Drew Brees is set to go up against his old team this week and in my opinion, this is not just the game of the week, but close to being the game of the year, that title likely left to the Bills/Saints game.Key matchup along the line: DE Will Smith vs. LT Jason Peters.
Will Smith is quick off the snap and Peters will be pressed to be in position and then hold him off Brees. But Brees is very good at reading the defense and in most cases can deliver the ball before he is pressured.Key skill position matchup: WR Brandon Marshall vs. CB Jabari Greer.
Advantage Saints. Greer is smart and fast enough to stay with Marshall so don't look for him to have a breakout game in this one. This difference maker:
Will be Reggie Bush. He is averaging an unbelievable 5.1 yards per carry. Most defenses simply do not have the speed to catch him before he turns the corner. My Pick:
This is going to be a good game. I'd watch it if it were televised, but the Saints come out on top, 31-27
Detroit Lions Update
Detroit Lions football practice was delayed on Monday for nearly two hours. One of the players, while on his way to the locker room happened to look down and noticed a suspicious looking, unknown white powdery substance on the practice field. Head coach, Glen Diermyer immediately suspended practice while the FBI was called in to investigate. After a complete field analysis, the FBI determined that the white substance, unknown to the players, was the goal line. Practice was resumed when FBI Special Agents decided that the team would not be likely to encounter the substance again.
The Browns upset the Bears last week 30-17 mainly due to the fact that Colt McCoy threw two interceptions.
The Eagles squeaked past the Giants to give them sole possession of the NFC East lead. RB Ronnie Brown gained 106 yards on the ground.
The 49ers continue their slide after losing to the Titans. Titans QB Pat Devlin was nearly perfect (11 of 15).
The Saints just barely defeated the Vikings mainly because Montana sucked a little less than Palmer.
The Redskins are still in the hunt for the 1st overall draft pick with the Lions and 49ers. Guess who will get it? A poll is included in this article so please vote by clicking forum discussion below.
Thanks all this week. Thanks for reading.
