This season one wide receiver has exploded on the scene . With big name guys all over the league a young kid from Texas has emerged as the leading receiver in the PFL .
There once was a young kid from Texas who grew up like any other small town kid. Raised in poverty with five brothers and 6 sisters ...all with different fathers it was a scramble just to get a morsel of food to eat. With no Father around to play catch with he would throw the ball in the air hundreds of times a day and catch it. If he dropped one he would start over till he caught one hundred in a row. In High School he made a name for himself as a speedy receiver with hands of glue and caught interest from a few Division One schools . Texas A&M came calling and offered the best "deal" so on National Signing Day he committed to the Aggies. After 2 seasons in college he decided to go pro and was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2nd round with the 52nd overall pick.
Wide Receiver Cody Malone of the Jacksonville Jaguars thru 15 games this season has caught a whopping 117 passes. In his 4th season coming off a mediocre season with only 54 receptions no one expected this. What makes it more amazing is that the guy who is throwing to him is a rookie 4th round pick!! Cody has improved all areas of his game including catching the football as he has only dropped 12 passes.
How has he achieved these gaudy numbers? Coach Wiggy says he has tremendous work ethic and is a great route runner but also provides that shiftiness to get yards after the receptions. He excels on screens, curls and quick outs says his Coach.
His 117 receptions with one game left ranks second all time to Kellen Winslow for receptions (134) in a season and his 686 yards after the catch ranks first all time in the PFL.
