Super Bowl l

The crowds arrived early and tailgated hard outside Arrowhead Stadium as the build up to the first PSAFL Bowl reached fever pitch before the opening kickoff was booted towards the Vikings Devin Duvernay.

On the first play of the game Cousins was sacked and lost a fumble, but the call was reversed by New York and the Vikings kept the ball. It was no use as Minnesota went 3 and out.

KC, 18-0 and looking for an undefeated season, then did what they do best, ruthlessly driving the ball down the field, before unleashing a bit of gadgetry, giving OBJ a handoff that he duly took 45 yards to paydirt.

7-0 KC. Q1

Intent on making life hard Cousins then throws a pick to Sneed on the first play of the drive, and after three CEH runs Patty Mahomes dove in from three yards out.

14-0 KC. Q1

This is where it gets a bit crazy. Electing to kick away from Duvernay, KC get the ball in the hands of ST LB Dorian O'Daniel, who fumbles the ball away. Four plays later Devin Singletary runs in from 5 yards out and the massacre is on.

21-0 KC. Q1

This onslaught took Cousins to his dark place as he converted a 4th and 1 on the half-way line to keep a drive going, and even a Dalvin Cook fumble was recovered by FB Ham who rumbled 18 yards forward. On 2nd and 6 from the 16 Cousins found Adam Thielen for a score, and there was a small bit of life for the Vikes.

21-7 KC. Q2

KC and Mahomes yet again drove the ball down the field, but on 4th and 1 at the Minny 26 they elected to go for it and not try for 3, and Matt Ioannidis got to Pat for the sack. Turnover on downs. Cousins threw a few darts and Cook found some lanes. Again Ham had a big play - an 18 yard catch, and the drive finished with a Cook 7 yard run, just inside the two minute warning.

21-14. KC. Q2.

More ball control for KC. 9 consecutive Mahomes passes and the Chiefs try a 33 yard field goal at the half - but miss.

KC get the second half kickoff, and in the blink of an eye they arrive at the Vikes 16 yard line, but Chandler Jones forces Mahomes to fumble and lose the ball. A Vikings break. One that lasted one play, as on the very next touck Cook fumbles for a second time but coughs it up this time. Mahomes then fires a laser to Tyreek for a 14 yard score.

28-14. KC. Q3.

Another quirky kick is fielded and Cousins gets a chunk play to JJ, before Cook puts his foot down for 51 ground yards on 4 plays, including a 9 yard trip to paydirt.

28-21. KC. Q3.

Back comes Mahomes, pass, pass, pass, dizzying the Minnesota secondary. The drive ends with another Mahomes score - this time 3 yards to TE extraordinaire Travis Kelce.

35-21. KC. Q3.

Cousins stares up at the clock, its the 4th quarter, and he is 14 points down. This inspires him to pass and a big JJ catch sets up a dart to Thielen for his second score, from 16 yards out, ending an 8 play 71 yard drive.

35-28. KC. Q4.

13 plays later, including 5 Mahomes incompletions the Chiefs had to do something they hadn't done all day, and settled for a field goal, giving them a 10 point lead with 9 mins left.

38-28. KC. Q4.

Again Cousins does not know how to quit, and following two Cook runs and an incompletion, Kirk evaded a blitz and launched a missile from the half-way line to Thielen, who ran 25 yards after the catch right to the endzone.

38-35. KC. Q4.

Taking the ball from the 25 Mahomes mixes up the plays, getting to the Vikings 39. Then passes to Hill, Kelce and Edwards all fall incomplete, and opting not to go for a huge FG, the Chiefs are forced to punt FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE GAME.

1m 28 seconds left. Cousins goes deep to Jefferson immediately, hooking up for 31 yards. A hyperventilating Cook then shoots out of a cannon for 21 yards. With 32 seconds left and up by 3 KC dialed up a blitz and keyed Cook. This was when time stood still. Cousins saw Thielen streaking up the right sideline and he launched a pigskin prayer. The gods were watching and the ball nestled into Theilen's purple gloves as he took three steps into the endzone. For the first time in over 59 minutes and the Vikings had the lead.

42-38. Minnesota. Q4.

Blankenship, 6 for 6 on exp's, kicks a touchback. 18 second left and KC opt for a run play to WR Hardman, which goes for 11. Time out. Mahomes then heaves the ball upfield looking for Beckham. KC fans screamed for pass interference but the refs did not agree. With the undefeated season on the line, the Bowl game up for grabs, Mahomes did what everyone expected and sent a mountain high pass downfield to Tyreek Hill. Joe Haden drew the coverage, and went step for step with the cheetah, as the ball hit the turf and the purple portion of the crowd began to comprehend the impossible. Yes the Vikings had come back from 21-0 down in the first quarter, overcome 3 turnovers, and beaten the 18-0 offensive juggernaut that was the Chiefs to lift the trophy.

FINAL - Minnesota Vikings 42-38 Kansas City Chiefs.

An English coach wins the inaugural PSAFL title, having beaten an unbelievably good team led by Doug Crandall. Huge credit to Doug for an unbelievable season.

MVP to Adam Thielen WR - who had 4 touchdown catches, three of them coming in the fourth quarter.

Thielen finished with 7 grabs for 141 yards. Cook had 161 yards rushing and 2 scores. Mahomes went 28-52 for 314 yards 2tds and 0 ints. KC defense didn't land a sack. The Vikes D was led by Jason Pierre-Paul with two forced fumbles.

Vikings fans will party hard into the night with some hard blackberry juice.
