Detroit vs Chicago

Black and Blue Divisional Matchup
Detroit (3-2) visits Chicago (5-0).  A lot on the line in this early season matchup.  With a win the Lions would only be 1 game behind the Bears.  A loss would put Detroit 3 games behind.

Bears receive and early on it's a battle of wills.  Bears want to run.  Lions want to stop the run.  Bears don't do much and have to punt.  A bad snap though is recovered by the Lions giving them excellent field position at the Chicago 26.  Lions are unable to get a first down but they take the lead with a FG 3-0.  Chicago still trying to run into the teeth of a run defense.  Hurts hits a big pass on 3rd and 13 to pick up a first down.  Finally the Bears start throwing more and move the ball well.  Lions defense stiffens and the Bears kick a FG to tie the game at 3.  Lions go 3 and out. Bears keep throwing and they add another FG (6-3).  Lions punt again as we enter the 2nd quarter.

Lions still focusing on stopping the run.  Bears keep throwing.  Hurts with a short TD pass and it's now 13-3.  Late in the second quarter, the Bears add another TD and start to pull away from Detroit (20-3) at halftime.

3rd quarter is scoreless as not a lot of offense during this period.  But late in the 3rd quarter, a second punt snap goes awry for Chicago.  But the Bears defense only allows a FG (20-6) early in the 4th quarter.

After a Chicago punt, Goff tosses an interception giving the Bears another FG.  This is how the game finishes Chicago 23, Detroit 6.

Nice job of coaching by Tim.  Goff was OFF all day.

Next week the Bears visit the Raiders while the Lions host the Cowboys.
