NFC Playoff Outlook

NFC East

Three teams are virtual locks to make the playoffs from the NFC East.

Is this the year people say, "How bout them Cowboys"?

3 games left versus teams with losing records (Carolina, Washington, and New Orleans) though the Panthers spanked them good. Still have 1 game left with both New York and Philadelphia who they have already defeated. Loaded at the skill positions.  Solid on defense.  Is this the year that Len brings home the first title for Dallas?

Prediction - Win the NFC East

Baker is huge for the Giants, at least so far.

2 games left against teams with a losing record (New Orleans and Washington). Still has 2 games left with Philadelphia and 1 against Dallas who defeated them. These 3 games will likely decide the division.  The Giants have a very nice offense and a solid defense.  Baker has been outstanding so far this season.  Can he keep it up?  Their other loss was to Cleveland.

Prediction - 2nd in the NFC East by the slimmest of margins.

Never ever count out a team coached by a Main

The Eagles have victories over the Rams and the Bears and have proved they will be a force in the playoffs.  4 games left vs teams with losing records (New Orleans, Washington, and Carolina twice). Have 2 games remaining against the Giants and 1 against the Cowboys who defeated them. Their 3 losses are to Jacksonville, Cleveland, and Dallas which are 3 of the toughest teams in the PAFL.

Prediction - 3rd place in the NFC East - a wildcard playoff team

NFC West

Two teams have separated themselves and figure to battle until the end of the season.

Can Kenny win his 3rd PAFL title?

4 games left against teams with losing records (Washington, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee). Beat Arizona in their first matchup.  The Rams boast an efficient offensive machine with Kelce/Adams/Brady.  It will be hard for the Cardinals to catch them.  They lost the first game of the season to Jacksonville in a computer simmed game.  Their second loss was all-in-the family to brother Rick's Eagles.

Prediction - Win the NFC West

Cardinals looking to fly into the playoffs

4 games left against teams with losing records (Chargers, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Washington). Lost their only game against Los Angeles. The Cardinals have a potent offense and a good secondary.  They hope to stay close to the Rams so that their meeting in week 16 will be for the divisional title.

Prediction - 2nd place in the NFC West

Editorial comment - I used to like cardinals.  But after suffering through a few occasions where they incessantly hit their beaks on windows in my house (they see their reflection but think it's a rival), I have a hard time liking them anymore.  But I do like Joe :)

NFC Central

Several teams chasing the Bears and a playoff spot

Can the Bears defense keep up their stellar play?

Last year Chicago won with offense.  This year the strength of the team has shifted to the defensive side of the ball.  Only 3 games left against teams with losing records (Chargers, Tampa Bay, and Seattle). Have 1 game remaining against each of Green Bay, Detroit, and Minnesota having defeated all of these teams the first time.

Prediction - First place in the NFC Central

Editorial Comment - I don't share Joe's believe that Chicago is the team to beat in the NFC.

Two surprising teams are in the hunt for the playoffs.  Too close for me to separate them.

The case for Detroit

Only 2 games left against teams with losing records (Seattle and Tampa Bay). They beat Minnesota but lost to both Chicago and Green Bay.  I think Tim has done an excellent job this season making the Lions competitive with only a $97M payroll.  I give the Lions the slightest of advantage to finish second.

Editorial Comment - The Lions all-time best record is 7 - 9 under the leadership of Brendan McCormick.  After that season, Brendan volunteered to take over the really bad Tampa Bay squad who he is building into a solid team.  Can this year's Lions finish 0.500 or higher?

The case for Green Bay

Currently they are 1 game ahead of Detroit.  They only have 1 game left against a team with a losing record (Tampa Bay) which is less than the Lions have which negates their current 1 game advantage.  They have lost to both Chicago and Minnesota while they defeated the Lions.

Editorial Comment - With the Vikings sitting at 3 - 6, it appears that Eric's run of winning seasons is all but over.  To continue that streak, Minnesota will need to go 6 - 2 over their last 8 games.  Will be quite a change should Minnesota not make the playoffs.
