Things looked good for the Cowboys early on in this game as they drove the opening possession to within five yards of the goal line. But a score was not to be had after a fumble was recovered by Cincy.
The Bengals seemed unstoppable with Drew Brees completing everything in spite of a Dallas defense concentrating on the pass. I mean, it was no secret that Brees was going to have to be the one to defeat the Cowboys. Brees drove the Bengals down field twice to score touchdowns, all the while, the Cowboy's coach flailed about on the sidelines, wondering what the hell was happening.
The Score: 14-0, Cincinnati
But after those two TDs, the Bengals began to stall.
The Dallas secondary buckled down and Cincy had a horrible lapse of discipline.
Multiple holding penalties killed their drives at key times and this would ultimately come into play for the outcome of this game. These were two closely matched teams, both of which wanted the win and both had to play a flawless game to get it. The five penalties committed by the Bengals, compared with only two for Dallas was enough to make the difference.
Dallas wins 21-14 in a very close game.
