Last year Joe was the QB of the title winning Bears.  In the offseason he was traded to the Chargers.  Joe has had this game circled since the season started.  Bears receive and they  cover 85 yds in 5 minutes.  Chargers go 3 and out.  Bears reach the LA 6 but can't find paydirt.  They add a FG for a 10-0 lead.  After 3 plays the Chargers face 4th and 1 on their own 34.  Coach Dan waves the offense to stay on the field.  Jacobs with the carry.  It's gonna be close and he has the first down.  This sparks the Chargers and they are on the Chicago 40 as the 2nd quarter begins.

3 plays later, handoff to Gibson and he rumbles 23 yds for a TD.  10-7 Bears.  Bears on their next drive face a 3rd and 1 on their own 45.  Penny though is tackled short.  4th and 1.  Bears decide to punt.  Chargers start on their own 10.  Facing 3rd and 6 from their 14, Burrow back to pass, finds Gibson in the flat, defenders fall down and Gibson goes all the way.  14-10 Chargers.  Teams trade punts.  Bears from their own 15 with 5:14 left in the half.  Hurts hits 3 big passes.  Now it's 2nd and 9 the the Chargers 28.  After 2 incomplete passes it's 4th down.  They decide to go for it rather than try a 45 yd FG into the strong wind.  Pass falls incomplete.  Neither team does anything else.  14-10 Chargers at halftime.

Chargers receive and they have the wind (commentary this should not be but it is.  Much like the Bears receiving to start the game where they get the ball and the wind).  The Chargers make a couple 1st downs but now they face 4th and inches on their own 49.  Coach Daniel again goes for it and Jacobs picks up 4.  The Chargers offense moves methodically down the field and the drive is capped off by a Gibson 11 yd TD run.  21-10 Chargers.  The Chargers drive was 18 plays covering 84 yds and used 10:50 of the clock.  Bears go 3 and out.  Chargers after 3 plays face a 4th and 1 from their own 35.  Coach Daniel keeps the offense on the field.  Handoff to Jacobs and he's throw for a 4 yd loss.  After the game Coach Daniel said he only wanted a hard count and to not run a play.  With great field position, it doesn't take long for the Bears to find the endzone.  Hurts finds Higgns from 13 yds out on the 1st play of the 4th quarter to make it 21-17 Chargers.

Chargers face a 3rd and 1.  Burrow crosses up the Bear defense with an 11 yd pass.  Now they face another 3rd and 1 on the Bears 46.  Handoff to Jacobs and he loses a yard.  Bears force a punt and start on their own 18 with 11:11 remaining.  First 2 passes are incomplete.  Hurts though finds Everett for 13 yds and a 1st down.  2 more completions to Lamb.  Hurts and Penny run for 22 yds.  Now it's 2nd and 1 on the Charger 1.  Penny into the endzone.  But the play is reviewed and he's ruled short.  3rd and goal inches away.  Handoff to Penny and he scores.  But the play is reviewed and he's ruled short.  4th and inches.  Coach Calvin keeps the offense on.  Handoff to Jones and he scores.  There is no review this time.  Bears back on top 24-21 with 7:11 left.  Chargers pick up a 1st down.  Garrett tosses Joe to the turf late and it's roughing penalty.  Next 2 passes are incomplete.  3rd and 10, handoff to Jacobs who only gets 3 yds.  Chargers go for it.  Burrow back to pass finds Jacobs but he's tripped up short of a 1st down.  Starting on the LA 43 Hurts finds Higgins for 27 yds.  But on 2 of the next 3 plays the Bears are called for holding.  Chargers defense gets the stop and they have the ball on their on 13 with 2:25 left.  Burrow back to pass and he's sacked for an 8 yd loss.  Next 2 plays are penalties against the Chargers putting the ball on their 1.  An incomplete pass on 2nd and 22.  Followed by another Charger penalty.  Burrow again can't hit the pass so the Chargers punt iwth 1:55 left and only 1 timeout left.  Bears kneel 3 times then punt.  Chargers last try start on their own 5.  Burrow back to pass and he's intercepted.  Bears win a hard fought game 24-21.  Coach Calvin said "It's hard to believe the Chargers are 4-8.  It's a quality team with a good coach"
