Our Plan |
To finish out this season then move to
Madden'25 |
|
What has happened to our great league? |
The PFL began in the year 2000. For so
long it was considered to be the league to join. If you were already a
member, it was the league to stay in, in fear of having to wait so
long to get back in. Our teams simply remained full... and our team
owners stayed for years. There were stretches where we went through
several seasons without needing to find a replacement owner. Our
waiting list was loooong!
So what happened?
Well, several things. No new releases for the PC between 2008 and
2019 for one, a lack of a quality product for another. The inability or
lack of ambition to keep the league competitive is another. The PFL, over
time, became a league of the haves and have-nots. For the last
couple seasons, it was difficult to decide on a picture for the game of
the week update on the PFL site. All the games were between losing
teams or a good record vs a bad record. The "middle class" of the
PFL had been decimated... gutted. This resulted in a mass evacuation of
team owners, something the PFL was simply unfamiliar with. Things left as
they were, would result in 8 to 10 open teams at season's end... Maybe
more. |

How do we fix It? |
1). We simplify things. Right now,
owners are burdened with too many chores. We'll keep Discord, but
mainly for game scheduling. We bring back everything to the
website...articles, voting, chats, etc.... Get rid of unnecessary rules.
The read and understand, I thought was an unnecessary step. Post
commissioner updates to the website in an easy to read article each
week when the league is advanced. It is the team owner's
responsibility to actually read the Commissioner updates and to carry out
the requested items. no need to babysit.
2). Make it competitive again. Madden is designed to reward the winners
and punish the teams that lose by rewarding for stat padding and winning
while at the same time, hurting morale of the teams that lose.
Winning teams get a lot more XP points than losing teams as well, further
widening the divide between the haves and have-nots.
3). Madden is pro-offense. Everyone knows it. This also benefits the
players who know all the little tricks you can use when making pre-snap
changes. So sliders and gameplay settings have to compensate some for
that. My slider settings will better reflect real football. |

In Closing |
If you're looking for a league that
keeps its owners, is competitive, and does not require you quit your day
job to open up enough time to participate and still have a shot to
win with good play-calling, then this is ''the PFL'' you are
looking for. Stick with us, invite your friends or old owners that
you are still in touch with to rejoin. I originally created Paydirt
24 years ago, I ran the PFL for years before I started handing those
duties over to others. These goals were my goals then and it made us
the best league in the world. It's time to get back to that.
If you're looking to gain the upper hand by
exploitation of this game's flaws... there are many other online leagues
that allow that. You can easily find them. They're the leagues that
show the same names repeated over and over in their history of
champions.... You know, the good ole boys. That does not sustain a
healthy league. It is a recipe for failure. Until then, as the Klingons
say... "Qapla".
Success! |

List of committed owners so far |
Titans, Colts, Eagles, Patriots, Bengals,
Packers, Commanders, Raiders, 49ers, Dolphins, Saints, Steelers, Broncos,
Panthers, Chiefs, Giants, Seahawks, Falcons.
Jeff may or may not be committed to stay as the Cowboys. If he does
not, I will claim them. If he stays, he will be alowed to keep them.
Are you staying and not see your team here? Lemme know!
