Measuring rod |
Browns (3-2) ended their 2 game losing streak with a win against divisional foe Pittsburgh by a 24-3 margin. Browns offense has a 50/50 yardage split between runs and passes. Cleveland is +5 on turnovers. Houston (4-1) is the most surprising team in the PSAFL. Nobody expected the Texans to be fighting for the AFC West title. Mega kudos to Rudy on a fantastic job so far. This game will be a big matchup for Houston going against my Super Bowl pick. CLE 27 HOU 6 |

Seahawks looking to fly |
Panthers (2-3) coming off a win against the Bears occupying solo second place in the NFC Central. Carolina has been a first half team. They are averaging over 160 yds per game on the ground. Mac had his best game of the year vs Chicago. Seattle (3-2) were no match for the Rams last week. Seahawks are -5 on turnovers while converting 48% on third down. Burrow coming off a bad game and has only 1 excellent game in 4 starts. Let's go with a Joe rebound. SEA 27 CHI 16 |

Key NFC East Game |
In spite of uneven play all year, Dallas (3-2) is in sole first place in the NFC East. Cowboys on a 2 game wiining streak with both wins coming against divisional teams. Dallas is getting outscored big time in the 1st and 3rd quarters while outscoring their opponents big time in the 2nd and 4th quarters. Cowboys are -5 on turnovers. Commanders (2-3) are only 1 game behind while GM Kirkwood has been on holiday. Washington has been alternating wins and losses all year. Commanders are -3 on turnovers. Both of these teams running games have been struggling. If the pattern holds, Washington should win this week. Time to change things up. DAL 24 WAS 13 |

Who's afraid of the Lions? |
The league is learning these Lions (0-5) have no teeth and have been declawed. Detroit scored their most points (14) last week, but this just re-enforces the struggles they have been having on offense. They have been outscored in each quarter while only converting 29% on 3rd down. Cousins out for an extended time means Dobbs will start at QB. Steelers (3-2) coming off a loss to the Browns. Steelers have only played 1 home game so far. Steelers only averaging 3.3 yds per carry. After struggling to move the ball last week, this week's game should be a major relief. PIT 23 DET 3 |

AFC Playoff Preview? |
Bengals (5-0) keep on rolling as the only undefeated team in the AFC. Cincy converting 52% on 3rd down and have a +10 turnover advantage. Last week was Lamar's first game with a QB rating below 100 (still had a good rating of 91). Bengals will be without all league Trent Williams. Chargers (3-2) electrified the home town fans last week by crushing the Patriots 59 - 18. The prior week, the Chargers were zapped by Kansas City 52-18. Herbert has been playing well recently. Chargers are down 2 key defensive starters (Bosa and Cashman). Bengals a bit better on defense. CIN 28 LAC 20 |

Total Opposites |
Los Angeles (5-0) have been a powerful squad as expected. Rams defense is top notch with a +6 turnover ratio and 18 sacks. They are allowing only 34% conversion on third down. Jordan Love has a QB rating of 112 meaning the Rams also pack a punch on offense. Baltimore (0-5) failed to score against San Francisco. Ravens are -3 on turnovers and are converting only 21% of third downs. Ravens will have a hard time scoring. LAR 31 BAL 6. |

Battle for AFC East lead |
Buffalo (4-1) has been rolling after opening game stumble. Josh Allen playing at an MVP level with a 120 Rating without a single game less than 105. James Cook has averaged over 6 yds per carry since being acquired via trade. Buffalo still without a single turnover. Indianapolis (4-1) coming off their first loss of the season being walloped by Miami and Tua. Stroud coming off 2 mediocre games in a row. Colts are plus 7 on turnovers. Indy has a slightly better defense while Buffalo has a slightly better offense. Tough game to call. I'll go with the defending champs. BUF 27 IND 24 |

One if by land, Tua by sea |
The Dolphins (3-2) are coming off a hugh win against the AFC East powerhouse Indianapolis 35-3. With Tua at QB, you knew Miami could move the ball. The surprise recently has been the play of the Dolphin defense. Over the last 3 games, Miami's defense has allowed 0,9, and 3 points. This after allowing over 30 points in each of their 1st two games. The Patriots (2-3) had one of those forgettable games last week against the Chargers where very little went right losing by a 59-18 margin. New England is -9 on turnovers. In their 3 loses, Patriots have allowed at least 38 points. Can New England score enough to keep up with Miami? Phins need to be on guard of a potential let down. MIA 31 NE 17 |

Eagles need to rebound |
New Orleans (1-4) on a 4 game losing streak after their upset of the Chargers in week 1. Saints have scored no more than 17 points in each of these losses. New Orleans have allowed 24 sacks. They are converting 32% on 3rd down and are -4 on turnovers. Armstead may be back at LT. Philadelphia (2-3) played Dallas tough last week before falling short by 10. Purdy had his worse game of the year. Eagles are converting 50% on 3rd down and are +2 on turnovers. Philly needs this game to keep in the mix for the NFC East title. Saints will need to find the team that took down the Chargers. PHI 30 NO 9 |

Giant NFC East battle |
Packers (1-4) won their first game last week against the toothless Lions . This week Green Bay faces the stout Giant defense. Goff has been playing well. The Packers running game has been struggling. NY (2-3) coming off a tough game vs Tampa Bay. Kyler Murray had his second bad game in a row in 3 starts. Giants have allowed 24 sacks. NY allowing 32% on third down. Giants lost starting CB Humphrey to injury. Kyler due for a good game. NY 28 GB 10 |

NFC Central Battle |
A Ripleys Believe it or Not fact finds the Buccaneers in first place with a 2 game lead. Last week Derrick Henry had a nice game against the Giants powerful Defense. Tampa Bay has a 3 game winning streak. Chicago (1-4) needs a win to try and get in the divisional race. Chicago converting 29% on 3rd down. Fields has not been playing well. Bears generate a lot of sacks while also taking a lot of sacks. This is the type of game that the Buccaneers need to be on upset alert. TB 24 CHI 23 |

Take no prisoners |
Da Raiders (2-3) had an exciting win over the Titans last week. Las Vegas defeated Jacksonville in week 2 by 10. Raiders are -5 on turnovers. They are also missing 2 of their starting defensive lineman. The Jaguars (0-5) gave the powerful Chiefs all they could handle last week. Bryce Young with his best game of the season against Kansas City. Both of these teams allow more than 70% pass completions. I suspect Jacksonville and Bryce will not play quite as well this week. Which is stronger? A Chief or a Titan? |
Kansas City (4-1) almost was upset by Jacksonville last week. Mahommes was hot completing 31 of 35 passes for 348 yds and 3 TDs. He also completed 2 other passes to Jacksonville . Chiefs are on a 4 game winning streak. They are banged up at Linebacker. Titans (2-3) came up 1 point short against da Raiders last week. They now must regroup against one of the best teams in the AFC. Tennesse has excellent skill players with James Connor, A.J. Brown, and Russell Wilson. Titans are minus 4 on turnovers and are converting only 26% on third down. Both of these must improve if they are going to defeat Kansas City. KC 31 TEN 24 |

Opposite records |
49ers (4-1) regained their momentum by shutting out the Ravens last week. Good Jalen returned. Mike Evans continues to play well. Looking at their stats, no one thing stands out. They just play really well for Shawn. Minnesota (1-4) came out ready to play against Cincinnati making the game more competitive than yours truly thought. One thing about these Vikings. They play very hard each and every week for Lawrence. Interestingly, much like San Francisco, no one stat jumps out at me. Stafford had a bad game against the Bengals. Don't sleep on the possibility of an upset. SF 24 MIN 16 |
